In 1921 New Bethel was organized in Mrs. Leola Fisher’s home.
The first church edifice was erected under the leadership of Rev. B.F. Ballard. Over the next thirty-years the church continued to grow under notable pastors: Rev. T.T. Wallace, Rev. Frank Edwards, Rev. Eddie Prophet, Rev. McLeod, and Rev. R. J. Lewis; during this time period, they kept the flame burning.
In November 1951, the Holy Spirit lead the members to choose Rev. Paul Jones as their pastor.
Through his leadership the membership flourished, souls were saved and the church developed a financial program. Through collaborative work, he started the community wide fellowship, the 2nd Sunday of each month.
In 1967, feeling the need and being led by God, Rev. Jones and the church decided to purchase some property and build a new edifice. This was the birth of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. In 1987, Rev. Jones was laid to rest.
In 1987, Rev. F. C. Holiday was called to lead Gods people. Under his leadership the church continued to grow and the Youth Department and Mass Choir flourished, also we began a Radio and Television Ministry.

August 1992, Rev. Holiday was call to minister in Houston, Texas; therefore, Rev. D.J. Bernard was called to keep the fire burning at New Bethel, which is something he did.
In 1998, God sent us Rev. Travis Hulett, a man with a vision that is currently being fulfilled.
In 2000, The Steppin’ Saints Marching Drill Team – 2nd place finish at the National Baptist Convention
In 2015, Major accomplishments included: re-vitalized youth ministry and children’s church, remarkable growth of Bible Study attendance, remodeling, and beautification of church edifice, providing service to senior citizens of the community, also the organization of a care ministry, establishment of Advisory Committees, and social media out reach.
In 2016, the church underwent renovation after the Tax Day Floods. The sanctuary was repainted, the floor was raised, and new carpet and sheetrock were installed.
In 2017, building improvements included painting the trim work and steeple and replacing the roof.
2019-2020, we started utilizing social media to enhance our ministerial outreach, established a Facebook Page, launched Tithe.ly Church Management Software and started streaming Sunday Morning Worship. Ensuring we continue to enhance our outreach and visibility to the community at large, we are now launching a website.
